NationalBakingWeek To revive and revitalise enthusiasm for home baking, one of the nation’s favourite ovenware brands, Pyrex is launching the UK’s first National Baking Week from 20th to 26th October.

The infectiously enthusiastic chef of ITV’s School for Cooks and the Alan Titchmarsh Show, Rosemary Shrager is giving her wholehearted support to the initiative and Pyrex are also working with household names including Kenwood, Lyle’s Golden Syrup, Philadelphia, British Lion Eggs, Allinson Flours, Schwartz, Président and Fairy.

To demonstrate just how quick and easy home baking can be, over 100,000 recipe books are being published which will be available nationwide, including suggestions with only five ingredients and taking only five minutes to prepare. Throughout October, a range of promotions will also be taking place in supermarkets and high street stores including money-off coupons, competitions and free gifts. All the latest news and event information, recipes, competitions and family baking pages can be found at www.nationalbakingweek.co.uk.

RShragerBWTray Rosemary’s reasons for Britain to get baking:

Reclaim your recipes – from the simplest pasta bake to a flapjack treat, baking your own means you’re in control of the origins and quality of ingredients, the s alt, sugar, fat content and exclusion of e-numbers.

Cheap and cheerful – as everyone feels the pinch on their spending power, stocking up on some store cupboard staples is a much cheaper way to enjoy a tasty variety of savoury and sweet dishes without blowing the budget on ready meals and pre-packed food.

Family values – baking with children is the perfect way to spend quality time together, making happy memories but also creating greater awareness, understanding and appreciation of the food we eat and enjoy.

Tasty triumphs – there’s nothing more satisfying than presenting a recipe you’ve baked yourself to family and friends and, in most cases, nothing quite as good!
